QSports and Qatar Foundation are bringing together 16 community football teams to vie for the Nations Football Cup 2017. The tournament aims to use the power of sport to engage and create positive social change in Qatar. 

Nations Football Cup 2017 Highlights

Games will be held every Friday& Saturday, beginning with 24th  of November 2017. The Final is expected on 22nd of December 2017.

16 teams are divided into 4 groups, with 4 teams in each group. Each team is guaranteed to play a minimum of 3 games. First 2 teams from each group will proceed to Round of 16. 


IMPORTANT:  TEAMS REGISTERING FOR THIS TOURNAMENT ARE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE AT LEAST 20 SUPPORTERS FROM THEIR RESPECTIVE COMMUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN THE OPENING AND CLOSING CEREMONY!

Rules & Regulations

Tournament Structure (subject to change) 

  • The tournament will include 16 teams divided into 4 groups of 4 teams each,
  •  Groups will be decided by an open draw to be held in the presence of team captains and coaches
  •  Each team will play every other team in their group on one occasion during the course of the tournament. (Minimum of 3 games played over 3 weekends)
  • 4th week to commence with Quarter-finals & Semifinals
  • 5th week will be finals
  • Each team plays one match per day at the times specified
  • Teams are asked to ensure that all players arrive 30 minutes prior to their scheduled kick off times
  • Once published game schedules, cannot be changed as this disrupts the remaining schedules
  • The top 2 teams from each group will proceed to the Quarter-finals

Team Structure

  • 7-a-side (76outfield players and 1 goalkeeper)
  • 7 substitutes
  • Teams may register up to 14 players
  • All players must register prior to competing for any team
  • No additional players can be allocated to a team once14 individuals have been registered. Exceptions will be handled on a case-by-case basis
  • A maximum of 14 players per game may play. All players must be named on the team sheet prior to kick off
  • Any team playing an unregistered player will automatically lose the match 3-0 and will be awarded zero points
  • Teams must designate a single point of contact for tournament management
  • Teams are required to register under their community name and must be endorsed by their respective community.

League Points & Standings

  • 3 points are awarded per win
  • 1 point is awarded per draw
  • 0 points are awarded per loss
  • For and against goals will be recorded
  • Tournament standings will be decided by points gained, followed by goal difference, followed by goals scored, followed by the aggregate result between the two teams in question.
  • Failure of a team to show equals a game forfeit and automatic loss of 3-0 and zero points awarded.

Game Rules

  • All captains and players are expected to read and understand the competition rules and policies for the tournament. Any questions or concerns regarding the rules or policies should be brought to the attention of the tournament director and/or the QSport office by emailing us at admin@qsports.qa. Additional rules and policies may be added or amended by QSports before or during the tournament.
  • Standard FIFA 11 a-side rules will apply to all games subject to the following rules
  • NO off-side rule will be applied
  • Studded footwear are permitted to be worn by any playerAll players must wear shin pads
  • The wearing of any form of jewelry (including, watches) is not permitted during play
  • The first half will begin with one team taking a center. The second half will begin with the other team taking a center
  • When a goal has been scored the game will be re-started by the team who conceded the goal taking a center. Opposition players must be at nine meters from where any free-kick is taken
  • The goal keeper must be on the goal line when a penalty is being taken.
  • The Referee reserves the right to award yellow cards on dangerous tackles. Two yellow cards result in an automatic red card for the player (who will be suspended for the next game) and the team including the player who received the red card must play with the remaining players for the rest of the game. Two red cards to a player during the tournament will result in the player being automatically ejected from the tournament. Team may replace the ejected player with a new player 

Game Structure

  • For Group stages, teams will play two 25 minute halves with a 5-minute half-time and 10 minutes between matches
  • Semifinals and Finals: 25 minute halves with 10 minute half time and 10 minutes between matches
  • There will be a coin toss at the start of every game. The team that wins the coin toss at the start will have the choice to kick-off or to choose a goal to defend
  • The referee will start each game as scheduled. If the players are not ready, the clock will still start as scheduled. Play will begin as soon as there are 5 players on the field
  • Time will run continuously, except for serious injuries
  • Teams will be given 10 minutes after the scheduled start time of the match to present the minimum of 5 players required to play the match
  •  If a team fails to present the minimum of 5 players after 10 minutes have passed, they will be issued a forfeit
  • If a team fails to field sufficient players for 2 games they will be suspended from the tournament and forfeit all payments to QSports
  • A full fixture list, including game dates and times will be issued prior to the start of the competition
  • There will be no overtime periods or shootouts in the group stages. In the playoffs, penalty shootouts will occur immediately after the match concludes. No overtime will be played

Other Information

  • All players must sign an indemnity waiver prior to the start of the tournament
  • Drinks will be provided during the matches
  • No change in schedule will be allowed once the tournament schedule has been published, except in exceptional circumstances
  • If you have any complaint or concern at any time, please talk to a Committee member(QSports).
  • If required, temporary action will be taken to address the problem immediately, following consultation with other Committee members(within 24hours).
  • Complaints must be made IN WRITING and will be discussed at the Committee meeting. If no written complaint is received, any temporary action taken will be cancelled, and no further action will be taken by the committee.

HOW TO REGISTER:
To register your team, you  will register as a team captain and invite all your players to join the team by sending an email invite through his account.
Team players will register as team players and select their team from the list when prompted.
Existing team captain/players do NOT have to create a NEW account. They can use their existing username and register for the league. Email address can also be used to log in instead of the username.
All Users must complete the mandatory registration information on their profile. Incomplete profiles are automatically deleted and the player will not be able to play in the league.
